Keep that Youthful Look with these Tips

People are continually looking for ways to stay young. And though we can’t defy aging, we can avoid the signs of it and slow down its process with the right steps. The tips provided below can aid in your pursuit of looking and feeling younger for a longer time.

1.      Stimulate your Brain

The law of use and disuse also applies to the brain. Brain tests have shown increased blood flow to various parts of the brain and the creation of new pathways for neuron when you use the mind for unordinary ways.

A study conducted in 2004 and published in Nature journal has shown that juggling increases the part of your brain responsible for higher-order thinking. The study also proved that the brain needs to be continuously engaged to stay agile and functional. Another study also found that frequently engaging in activities that stimulate the brain can lessen the risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

 2.      Mingle

Research by the US government revealed that social isolation is a vital indicator of your mental function when you get older. According to experts, this can be attributed to the use of unvaried communication skills.

The study has discovered that a person who is a part of any group is less likely to suffer a decline in mental function as he/she grows older.

3.      Exercise your Body

The changes that occur to the physical body as one grows older are linked to physical inactivity. A person who does regular workouts will not only have lesser fats than one who doesn’t, but it will also give a younger glow to a person.

4.      Consume Fish Oils

Eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as tuna, salmon, and mackerel helps avoid the occurrence of type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. The fatty acid is also known to prevent the appearance of wrinkles.

A 2005 research also found that consuming food with omega-3 at least once a week can slow down the decline of mental abilities that comes with aging.

5.      Boost your Intake Antioxidants

As people age, the body’s level of antioxidants decreases while free radicals increase. According to research by Tufts University, foods that are rich in antioxidants help impede the process of aging.

Foods rich in antioxidants include blueberries, spinach, and carrots.

6.      Have Sex More Often

A magazine called Psychology Today has found that an active and satisfying sex life makes a person healthy and fit. Another book called Real Age also stated that women who are satisfied with their sex lives live a bit longer than their average life expectancy. For men, the more orgasms they have in a year, the longer they are expected to live.

7.      Reduce Food Intake

A study by the Washington University School of Medicine proved that reducing calorie intake to 1400-2000 a day improves blood pressure, the elasticity of heart muscle, and inflammatory markers.

Replace your meals with drinks that contain olive oil, vegetables, fruits, and fish, and whole grains.

8.      Have confidence in yourself

Having a high level of self-efficacy, which blends self-belief and confidence, is a trait present in people who reach their centennial age. They see difficulties as challenges that encourage them to put in more effort and failures as a learning experience.

9.      Strength Training

Sarcopenia is a disease that comes with aging. It causes muscle loss, which also results in reduced strength, tone, and flexibility. But this can be prevented by weekly strength training, regular stretching, and constant activity.

10.  Take care of your skin

The way a person age is dependent on his/her genes and environmental factors, like smoking and exposure to UV rays. Stop smoking and use sunscreen to prevent the appearance of freckles, wrinkles, age spots, and skin damage.
